“This luxurious private villa in Dalkey, designed for a renowned Irish film director and his family lies just south of Dublin, and is situated on the immediate foreshore of the Irish Sea. The difficult and exposed site – with height restrictions – is wedged between Coliemore Road and the sea. It called for a unique solution with a modest single storey street facade, with living areas on this upper level, and sleeping accommodation, cinema and external areas on the lower.  A seawater rock pool on the foreshore forms an unobtrusive breakwater protecting the house from waves whilst providing a private and safe access to the sea for swimming.  The house won numerous architectural awards and has been extensively covered in various publications.” [stromarchitects.com]
