Push-Pull House by David Jameson Architects Inc.
“The Push-Pull house is an attempt to mediate the scale and typology of a traditional post-war neighborhood, while respecting the client’s desire simple bars sit on either side of a circulation spine, connected by a curved brise-soleil. A gable form is pulled forward towards the street to stablish a dialogue with he traditional house next door, while the modern curved roof volume is pushed away towards the garden. The brise-soleil recalls the scale of front porches found on the nearby houses and marks the axis of entry The entry interrupts the curved facade of the brise-soleil and slides through to the bilateral gallery space. To the east are the dining room, kitchen and breakfast room. To the west, the living room and the double height great room. Animated stairs lead up to a balcony on the second floor which overlooks both the great room and the rear of the terrace, and forms a bridge between the master bedroom and the children’s bedrooms.” [davidjamesonarchitect.com]
